This appeal was filed by the assessee against the order dated October 17, 2018, of CIT(A)-12, New Delhi, relating to the assessment year 2015-16. The appellant requested withdrawal of the appeal, opting to settle the tax arrears under the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme, 2020.
The primary grievance was the assessment made for the year 2015-16, which led to the dispute and subsequent appeal.
During the course of the virtual hearing, none appeared on behalf of the assessee. The learned counsel for the assessee, via a letter dated January 13, 2021, requested withdrawal of the appeal, stating that the appellant had opted to settle the dispute under the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme, 2020. A certificate under Section 5(1) of The Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Act, 2020, was filed to this effect.
The learned Senior DR had no objection to the withdrawal request. Consequently, the tribunal accepted the appellant’s request for withdrawal of the appeal.
The tribunal dismissed the appeal as withdrawn, noting the appellant’s decision to settle under the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme, which aims to resolve tax disputes amicably and reduce litigation.
